NCFE LEVEL I COURSE - PORTFOLIO #2
The above 6 images are the Final Images I submitted for my Second NCFE Level I Portfolio. The theme was 'Times Travel' - a play on the usual 'Time Travels' version of stating such a concept.
I introduced the piece in this way:
Time never stops...
it never pauses, and it never falters, however man may perceive the passing of it. Unlike humanity, it is constant. This portfolio is a brief study of time and the natural world. I have taken a series of images in a variety of places (and times of day) and used them as a basis for manipulation and merging with others within Photoshop in order to create a set of photomontages.
Each completed photograph has two which precede it in order to demonstrate how they were edited and altered until I was content with the result, no matter how much (err) time, that took.
So, the initial image will be a standard shot of what will be edited to become the background of the completed work. The next image will demonstrate some of the alterations I have made; using levels, curves, dodge, burn and other tools within the palette.
The third image will be the final one; as finished as something man-made ever is, but at least I will have found a place to stop, to leave it as ‘finished’ as it can be.
Some of the alterations I have made are, I hope, quite subtle; there are clock or watch faces in every final image, but they may not be immediately clear, you may have to look for them to see where they are. Overall, I am very happy with the result, after all it is easy to keep ‘tinkering’ ad infinitum.
Now, to benefit from the ‘full effect’ of the images which follow; please turn this portfolio 90° to the right in order to enjoy them in the way they were edited by me within Adobe Photoshop CC 2017...

I was content with this work and it was a step in the right direction on my journey into creative photography. Of course, if I were to revisit this now - tempting as I still pass by the family and wave at them every school day - I'd do a lot of it in a very different way which would then obviously produce a different piece. But, given that it is of the time and skill level I had then, it's not awful!
